We are currently seeking a Senior Database Administrator III to support operations in Riverside, CA, with an opportunity to travel to locations such as Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. This position is contingent on contract award, with an expected start date in September 1st, 2026. This is a full-time, CONUS/OCONUS position requiring an active DoD Secret clearance.
The base salary range for this role is $111,000 to $160,000 annually, depending on geographic location and experience. The final offer will be based on relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and market data.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a critical role in designing, building, securing, and operating software solutions that support mission success and operational excellence across Federal Government organizations. Seeking a Senior Database Administrator III to provide full-time, on-site support to the CBP Air and Marine Operations Center. This role is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing database environments that support C4I systems, AMOSS, ISR platforms, and associated mission applications, ensuring data availability, integrity, security, and performance in alignment with operational requirements.
You will:
Administer, maintain, and optimize database systems supporting AMOSS, ISR, and C4I environments
Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies
Ensure data integrity, availability, and security across all database platforms
Perform database installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades
Support backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning and execution
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in mission-critical environments
Manage database access controls and ensure compliance with security requirements
Support integration of databases with applications, systems, and data sources
Collaborate with engineering and development teams to support system enhancements and data requirements
Develop and maintain database documentation, procedures, and standards
Support data migration, replication, and synchronization efforts
Ensure compliance with configuration management and change control processes
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; experience may substitute
10 years of relevant work experience
Technical Expertise:
Experience supporting maintenance and sustainment of C4I, AMOSS, or ISR systems in operational environments
Experience supporting maintenance and sustainment of C4I, AMOSS, or ISR systems in operational environments
Experience troubleshooting complex system issues across hardware, software, and network components
Experience working with mission equipment, maintenance tools, and COTS systems
Experience using diagnostic and test equipment to identify and resolve system faults
Demonstrated understanding of operational requirements and ability to apply technical procedures in mission environments
Administering enterprise-level database systems in operational environments
Performing database performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting
Managing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes
Supporting database security, access controls, and compliance requirements
Certifications:
Must have a current and active DoD Secret security clearance.
Proficient with modern IT tools and infrastructure technologies
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Project management tools such as MS Project or equivalent
Collaboration tools such as Teams and SharePoint
Travel & Passport
Travel, both CONUS and OCONUS by motor vehicle and/or air travel may be required; some overnight stays possible.
OCONUS locations include:
Aguadilla and Puerto Rico
Must have an active passport to support OCONUS travel and/or living requirements.
Work Environment
Compliance with vaccination and medical requirements for TDY/OCONUS roles as per Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil.
This position requires working in a stressful environment, dealing with conflict, working under pressure and with strict deadlines, focus and attention to detail
Office setting:
Primarily an office-based role in Riverside, CA
Standard desk/computer work with flexibility for walking and movement on site.
Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.
Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
