Cambridge International Systems, Inc. has a full-time Software Engineer opportunity available based in Vaihingen, Germany. Qualified candidates for this job must possess a current DoD Secret security clearance and meet TESA accreditation requirements.  ***TESA Certification allows employees the to be tax exempt for both Germany and US, in addition to other great perks***

Responsible for supporting Combatant Command (CCMD) developed Strategic Information Systems. Duties include accessing and updating databases, user account management, and the ability to apply specialized technical expertise to perform analysis, testing, and maintenance of systems and products. Provide expertise relative to user requirements and develop technical reports and system documentation in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, and Outlook), and provide training as requested. Build and generate custom reports when requested - to include but not limited to reports required by DoD policy or National Defense Authority legislation - and be able to synchronize various databases several times a week. Knowledge of Security Cooperation is preferred. Must demonstrate the ability to pay keen attention to detail, possess a strong customer service orientation, and have the ability to work as part of a team. Other duties as assigned.

This position is in support of a Department of Defense (DoD) organization, US AFRICOM located OCONUS in Stuttgart, Germany. 

The Software Developer works as part of a software engineering team to develop software packages and applications using an Agile methodology, embodying the highest levels of engineering and UI/UX principles. Supports and develops client side and/or server-side applications in the latest industry standard development environments, test code for accuracy in pre-production, and ensure interoperability and completeness to achieve desired results within the production environment. Works with peer engineers and the Team Lead to deliver value to our customer, sponsor, and stakeholders.
ROLE RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Work collaboratively and participate constructively as part of a truly self-organizing Agile Software Engineering team 
  • Develop, test, and refine the applications to meet stakeholder requirements
  • Integrate both client controls and .NET web service implementations as part of the overall Theater Security Cooperation architecture
  • Work in a collaborative team environment to develop custom standalone ASP.NET applications and customizations 
  • Identify, isolate, diagnose, repair, and resolve software bugs
  • Provide feedback for regular internal process improvement and best practice reviews
Required QUALIFICATIONS
  • BA/BS + 3 years recent specialized or AA/AS + 5 years recent specialized or a major cert + 7 years recent specialized or 9 years of recent specialized experience
  • DOD 8570 IAT 2 compliance
  • TESA eligibility
  • 5-7 years’ experience in an Applications Development role.
  • IAT Level II certification(s) in accordance with DoD 8570.1
  • Microsoft Certification in Application Development or comparable computing environment certification
  • Must have experience working with standard software development lifecycle processes, including peer review, quality assurance testing, and security hardening
  • Must possess excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills; able to work in an open work environment
  • Requires a firm understanding of fundamental web application technologies including but not limited to HTTP, ReST, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON and XML
  • Requires a firm understanding of advanced web development technologies, such as .NET Framework, Angular, React, TypeScript, C#, SCSS, SQL or NoSQL storage, Web Services (ReST/SOAP), and industry standard version control systems such as Git, GitHub, GitLab, or Azure DevOps
  • Must possess an active DoD Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Must be proficient in using different technologies such as computers and other tools and systems pertinent to the position.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience and success working in an Agile (preferably SCRUM) development environment
  • Knowledge and/or experience working within Combatant Commands or Military environments
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams with other T-shaped developers and self-organizing as a single unit to achieve customer goals
  • Experience with DevSecOps practices and technologies, including pre-commit hooks, YAML-based pipelines, CI/CD, pull requests, merges, and hotfixes
  • Experience with complex systems/organizations, portals, enterprise content management, and business intelligence.
  • Experience developing applications using design principles such as adaptive design, responsive design, graceful degradation, and progressive enhancement
  • Involvement with the development communities; active in forums or channels
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.  In some occasions, overnight travel may be required.
  • Active Passport in support of OCONUS travel and/or living requirements.

  • Cambridge International Systems complies with Temporary Duty Station (TDY)/Outside Continental United States (OCONUS) vaccination requirements.  If this position requires OCONUS travel (listed above), Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil lists applicable current vaccination requirements by location.
Office setting:
  • Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.
  • Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
  • May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
