We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator to support operations in Stuttgart, Germany. This is a full-time, OCONUS position requiring an active DoD TS/SCI clearance, eligibility for NATO Indoctrination and TESA accreditation, other requirements.
TESA certification provides significant tax exemptions for U.S. employees stationed in Germany — along with other great Cambridge provides benefits like housing, COLA, and dependent education reimbursements, etc.

What You’ll Do
As a Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in keeping classified DoD systems running overseas. You will:
Monitor system performance; manage resources, capacity planning, and optimization
Install, configure, patch, and harden Linux systems in compliance with DISA STIGs
Automate administration using Ansible, Bash, AWX/AAP, GitLab, PowerShell, and CI/CD pipelines
Troubleshoot and resolve issues; provide Tier 2/3 support for Linux systems and applications
Respond to incidents in real time and support outage resolution
Implement security best practices and remediate vulnerabilities to meet DoD Cyber/IA requirements
Maintain system documentation, test plans, and installation procedures
Support a geographically dispersed enterprise network in a mixed Linux/Windows (Active Directory) environment
Use enterprise tools such as ServiceNow, Red Hat Satellite, Splunk, SYSLOG/NXLog
Support virtualized and containerized environments (VMware, KVM, Docker, OpenShift, Kubernetes)
Apply networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) during troubleshooting
Collaborate with cross-functional teams; provide limited Windows and network support
Interface with vendors and support multiple systems/projects
Provide technical guidance to other administrators as needed
Communicate effectively with client managers and system users
Provide remote support and travel to customer sites as required
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- BA/BS + 3 years recent specialized or AA/AS +7 years recent specialized or a major cert + 7 years recent specialized or 11 years of recent specialized experience
Certifications:
- RedHat Certified Solutions Associate or greater, Linux+, LPIC (1,2, or 3), or comparable computer certification.
CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)
- Must have a current and active DoD TS/SCI security clearance.
- Proficient with modern IT tools and infrastructure technologies
Preferred (Nice to Have):
ITIL v3 – Foundation
Experience with automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch scripting
Experience with Microsoft SCCM
Experience working in VMware ESXi environments
Experience with network storage solutions (SAN/NAS)
Experience with enterprise backup solutions
Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and environments
Understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) military standards
Experience supporting and maintaining Cisco routers and switches
Travel & Passport
Some overnight stays possible.
Must have an active passport to support OCONUS travel and/or living requirements.
Work Environment
Compliance with vaccination and medical requirements for TDY/OCONUS roles as per Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil.
Office setting:
Primarily an office-based role in Stuttgart, Germany
Standard desk/computer work with flexibility for walking and movement on site
Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.
Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
