We are currently seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic (NIWC Atlantic) Expeditionary Enterprise Systems and Services (E2S2) Division in North Charleston, SC. NIWC Atlantic provides design, acquisition, and sustainment services for Marine Corps Systems Command (MCSC) Information Technology (IT) systems. This is a full-time, on-site office position requiring attendance five days per week, with one optional telework day.

What You’ll Do
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will play a critical role supporting NIWC Atlantic’s E2S2 Division and Marine Corps IT systems. You will:

  • Support the design, acquisition, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise and tactical Marine Corps networks.
  • Oversee the creation of hybrid software, web, and hardware products from initial specifications through final rollout and maintenance.
  • Deploy and sustain Cisco Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solutions.
  • Support network fielding’s, site surveys, installations, and other sponsor-requested mission activities.
  • Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain network technologies including BGP, DMVPN / Flex VPN, HAIPE devices, and Multicast protocols.
  • Work with major carriers, including providers such as Verizon, in support of network requirements.
  • Install heavy network equipment into racks according to installation design plans.
  • Travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including multiple week-long trips, as required to support mission requirements.
What You’ll Bring
Required Qualifications:
Must be proficient in using computers, network technologies, and other tools and systems pertinent to the position.
  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited program.
    • Seven (7) years of IT professional experience overseeing the creation of hybrid software, web, and hardware products from initial specifications to final rollout and maintenance.
    • Current Cisco CCNA certification required.
    • Proven experience with enterprise and/or tactical Marine Corps networks.
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Cisco SD-WAN deployment and sustainment experience.
    • Fundamental understanding of Cisco Software Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) and Cisco Catalyst Center (formerly DNAC).
    • Solid experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and experience working with major carriers (e.g., Verizon).
    • Experience with DMVPN / Flex VPN, hands-on experience with High Assurance Internet Protocol Encryption (HAIPE) devices, and familiarity with Multicast protocols.
  • Clearance:
    • Must have a current and active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
Preferred (Nice to Have):
  • Current Cisco CCNP or equivalent vendor certification (e.g., JunOS, Arista).
Travel Requirements
  • Travel 25% to 35% of the time, both CONUS and OCONUS, by motor vehicle and/or air travel may be required. Multiple week-long trips may be required for fieldings, site surveys, and other sponsor-requested mission activities.
  • Must have an active passport to support OCONUS travel requirements.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • This is an on-site office role in North Charleston, SC requiring attendance five days per week, with one optional telework day.
  • Travel between work locations, customer sites, and government installations may be required.
  • Occasional extended work hours, including evenings or weekends, as needed to support mission requirements.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment and install it into racks according to installation design plans.
  • Work is performed in a secure facility where personal electronic devices may be restricted.
  • Physical activities may include lifting, carrying, positioning, and installing network equipment and hardware.
  • Use of network tools, equipment, laptops, and job-related hardware as required for the role.
  • Communication with team members, customers, and stakeholders through verbal and written methods.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work under deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.
  • Interaction with others in dynamic environments, including situations requiring problem-solving and conflict resolution.
  • Compliance with applicable medical or travel requirements for domestic or international travel, as required by governing authorities.
