We are currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support operations in Charleston, SC. This is a full-time, CONUS position requiring an active DoD Top Secret clearance.

We are currently seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support operations in Charleston, SC. This is a full-time, CONUS position requiring an active DoD Top Secret clearance.
What You’ll Do
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in monitoring, analyzing, and detecting cyber events and incidents within information systems and networks, that serve U.S. government missions at the Cambridge corporate office. You will:
- Cybersecurity Monitoring & Incident Detection:
- Continuously monitor and analyze network traffic, system logs, and security alerts to identify suspicious activities and potential threats.
- Detect, investigate, and escalate cybersecurity incidents, ensuring timely response and documentation.
- Cyber Defense Operations:
- Support integrated, dynamic cyber defense strategies in alignment with organizational risk management frameworks.
- Coordinate and maintain security tools and platforms to support continuous monitoring and ongoing authorization programs (e.g., RMF, NIST frameworks).
- Establish frameworks to quantify and measure cyber risk, enabling risk-based decision-making across the enterprise.
- Security Architecture & Risk Assessment:
- Evaluate business strategies to determine cybersecurity requirements, aligning them with current information security standards and best practices.
- Conduct system security and vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and architectural reviews to identify integration challenges and security gaps.
- Develop cost estimates for implementing security solutions based on risk and compliance assessments.
- Policy Compliance & Authorization:
- Prepare, implement, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity policies, standards, and Assessment and Authorization (A&A) requirements.
- Plan, implement, upgrade, and monitor cybersecurity controls to enhance resilience and support accreditation processes.
- Vulnerability Management & Incident Response:
- Identify and assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities, propose remediation strategies, and track mitigation efforts.
- Respond to and investigate cybersecurity breaches; re-establish protections and submit incident reports in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Testing & Verification:
- Develop and execute test scripts to verify the functionality and effectiveness of implemented security measures.
- Conduct security validation activities to ensure compliance with operational and technical security controls.
- Training & Awareness:
- Develop and deliver cybersecurity training programs to enhance user awareness and adherence to security practices.
- Lead post-incident reviews and security workshops to promote a security-conscious culture.
- System Design & Secure Architecture:
- Design, develop, and integrate DoD Information Assurance (IA) architectures and system components for secure use within computing, network, and enclave environments.
- Ensure system architectures (including programs of record and special-purpose processing nodes) meet functional, performance, and security requirements.
- Support secure integration of platform IT and special-purpose systems with existing infrastructure.
Required Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- HS Diploma + 5 years of relevant experience
- Technical Expertise:
- Experience with the RMF Process
- Experience with policy and RMF artifact development.
- Ability to lead a team of cyber security professionals and direct tasking and provide mentorship and leadership.
- Experience web-based applications designed to support the RMF and A&A such as eMASS and MCCAST.
- Certifications:
- CISSP or CASP+ certification
- Must have a current and active DoD Top Secret security clearance.
- Proficient with modern IT tools and infrastructure technologies
- Develops technical solutions to complex problems.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
- Desire experience with HBSS.
- Up to 25% travel, CONUS may be required; some overnight stays possible.
- Compliance with vaccination and medical requirements for TDY/OCONUS roles as per Vaccine Recommendations by AOR | Health.mil.
- Primarily an office-based role in Charleston, SC.
- Standard desk/computer work with flexibility for walking and movement on site
- Must be able to work in an office environment, sitting at a desk, looking at a computer for most of the workday.
- Work is physically comfortable; the employee has discretion about sitting, walking, standing, etc.
- May be required to travel short distances to offices/conference rooms and buildings on site.
- Employment is contingent upon successful background investigation
- Drug screening may be required for federal contract compliance
